Premier League, on Thursday, revealed their plans of introducing the Hall of Fame (HoF) to ‘celebrate the exceptional skill and talent of players who have graced the competition since its inception in 1992’, and the first two inductees are set to be named on March 19.

Speaking about the initiative, Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said, "Since 1992, the Premier League has been home to world-class players who have defined generations and provided us with compelling football season after season.

"A place in the Premier League Hall of Fame is reserved for the very best. It will be an occasion for our fans around the world to look back over the years and help us celebrate some truly exceptional playing careers."

As per the league, “a shortlist of nominees will also be announced at the same time, with fans invited to vote to help select the additional former players to join the Premier League Hall of Fame 2020."

Only the retired players are eligible to be inducted in the HoF, and only their Premier League career will be taken into account. Furthermore, every inductee will be rewarded with an engraved medallion.

As soon as the news broke out, Premier League fans around the globe were quick to name their pick. Premier League’s all-time top-scorer, Alan Shearer, without a shadow of doubt, has received a majority of praise, while there has also been a mention of Manchester United great, Ryan Giggs, who not only has won 13 Premier League titles in his career but is also a leading assist provider till date.
