The Indian Super League 2023-24 began with Kerala Blasters’ 2-1 victory over Bengaluru FC in the opening fixture at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on September 21.

Bengaluru FC’s Keziah Veendorp opened the scoring with an unfortunate own goal to provide Kerala Blasters the lead in the 52nd minute. The hosts soon doubled the lead courtesy Adrian Luna’s strike in the 69th minute.

Striker Curtis Main netted a consolation goal for the visitors who went down in the closely-fought encounter.

Mumbai City FC’s Jorge Pereyra Diaz, Kerala Blasters’ Adrian Luna, Mohun Bagan Super Giant duo of Dimitri Petratos and Jason Cummings are the leading players contesting for the ISL 2023-24 Golden Boot award.

Among Indians, NorthEast United FC’s Parthib Gogoi and Manvir Singh of Mohun Bagan are strong contenders to finish as the leading goal-scorer in ISL season 10.
