A 10-year-old Manchester United fan wrote a letter to Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, asking him to stop winning the rest of the games in order to stop the Reds winning the title, and to everyone’s surprise, he received a response from the German himself.
Daragh Curley, hailing from County Donegal, wrote his letter as a school assignment in late January, and earlier this week, his family had a surprise in store. Daragh’s mother, Tricia visited the local post office and came to know the family had a letter registered for her son. Upon opening, Daragh found a letter from Klopp where he explained why his wishes cannot be granted.
In the letter, Daragh had written, "Liverpool are winning too many games. If you win nine more games, then you have the best unbeaten run in English football. Being a United fan that is very sad.
"So the next time Liverpool play, please make them lose. You should just let the other team score. I hope I have convinced you to not win the league or any other match ever again."

In response, the Liverpool manager said, "Unfortunately, on this occasion I cannot grant your request, not through choice anyway.
"As much as you want Liverpool to lose it is my job to do everything that I can to help Liverpool to win as there are millions of people around the world who want that to happen, so I really do not want to let them down."
"Luckily for you, we have lost games in the past and we will lose games in the future because that is football.

"The problem is when you are 10 years old you think that things will always be as they are now but if there is one thing I can tell you as 52 years old it is that this most definitely isn't the case."
Despite an odd request, the letter also mentioned how lucky Manchester United are to have a fan like Daragh. "Having read your letter, I think I can safely say one thing that will not change is your passion for football.

"United are lucky to have you. I hope if we are lucky enough to win more games and lift some more trophies you will not be too disappointed as although our clubs are great rivals we also share a great respect for one another. This is what football is all about. Take care and good luck, Jurgen.”

Daragh’s father, Gordon Curley – who is also a Manchester United supporter - was equally stunned by the response, and speaking about the letter, he mentioned, “I’m a United fan but I have to say I really admire Klopp. You could tell by the language he was using German phrases and it was a personal response.
"Daragh couldn’t believe it and it was great to be able to bring it into the school and show everyone.”
Liverpool, having won 25 of their 26 Premier League games, have only dropped two points this season; against Manchester United. This season, the Reds have conceded just 15 goals in the league this season (fewest by any team) and if manage to maintain the consistency, it is said that they will be rewarded with a special golden Premier League trophy for their achievement, becoming only the second club to receive the honour.

The Reds need just 15 points from their remaining 12 games to be crowned as new champions of England, meaning that they only need three victories from this point on. Liverpool play West Ham (h), Watford (a), Bournemouth (h), Everton (a), Crystal Palace (h) in their next five matches.
The earlier they can win the title is at home to Bournemouth on March 7, but for that to happen, Manchester City need to drop six points over the period.
