Responding to Yuvraj Singh’s bottle cap challenge, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has shared his version of the video, acknowledging this new Internet fad.

Dhawan, who was ruled out of the World Cup owing to a fractured thumb, uploaded a video across his social media accounts and quoted, “Yuvi Paaji, here is my #BottleCapChallenge! This is the first time I am picking my bat up after my injury… Feels good to be back.”

In a video he posted in reply to Yuvraj’s challenge, Dhawan played an immaculate straight drive to dislodge the cap from the bottle, giving the Internet fad his unique spin.

Dhawan sustained the fracture during India’s 36-run victory over Australia at the Oval. And while he picked up the knock early in his innings, he went on to score a match-winning ton against arguably one of the fieriest bowling attacks of the sport.

Following the tests, he was expected to recover within four weeks given the X-ray didn’t diagnose a fracture. But a negative report from the CT scan revealed he would miss the reminder of the tournament.

Youngster Rishabh Pant was called into action, but his even his aggression couldn’t avoid India’s elimination from the semi-finals at hands of New Zealand.

Meanwhile, seeing Dhawan back in action would be a huge boost for India given the team is braced for a West Indies tour in August, for which several senior members will be rested.
