Kent will take on Lancashire in the Royal London One-Day Cup 2022 final at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Saturday, September 17. The match will start at 3:30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).

Led by captain Joe Denly, Kent stormed into their second Royal London One-Day Cup final after beating Hampshire by three wickets in their semi-final clash on Tuesday.

Chasing a target of 311, Kent rode on Ollie Robinson’s 95 off 89 balls, Darren Steven’s unbeaten 65-ball 84 and Harry Finch’s 52 off 60 balls to chase down the total in 49 overs. Earlier, Hampshire posted 310/9 in their allotted 50 overs courtesy captain Nick Gubbins’ 75 off 84 balls along with the fifties from Aneurin Donald (54) and Felix Organ (54).

Joe Denly’s Kent earlier finished third in the Group B standings with nine points from eight matches before beating Leicestershire by 81 runs to qualify for the semi-finals. 

On the other hand, Lancashire defeated Sussex by 65 runs to advance to their maiden Royal London One-Day Cup final.

Electing to bat first, Dane Vilas’ brilliant century (121 off 99 balls) and contributions from wicket-keeper batter George Lavelle (50) and Danny Lamb powered Lancashire to 319/8 in their 50 overs. In reply, Liam Hurt’s three-wicket haul and two wickets each from Will Williams, Danny Lamb and George Balderson helped Lancashire bowl out Sussex for 254 in 46.3 overs.

Earlier, Lancashire beat Nottinghamshire by three wickets in their quarter-final tie to move into the semi-finals. Under the leadership of Keaton Jennings, Lancashire finished second in the Group B standings with 11 points from eight matches.

2018 finalists Kent and Lancashire will eye their maiden Royal London One-Day Cup title on Saturday.

Since the inception of the tournament in 2014, Kent and Lancashire have faced each other thrice in the Royal London One-Day Cup previously, winning one game apiece. One match ended in no result.

While Lancashire won their first meeting by 54 runs in 2015, Kent won their most recent meeting by two wickets in 2022.
