Brazil lead the way for teams with most consecutive appearances in FIFA World Cups

Brazil, with five World Cup titles, have made the most consecutive appearances in the World Cup.

Since the inaugural edition in 1930, the Seleção have played in all 21 editions of the tournament with their most recent triumph coming in the 2002 installment of the showpiece event.

Brazil - the most successful team in FIFA World Cup history - are among the six teams who have played in the World Cup on 10 or more consecutive occasions.

Germany, most recently the 2014 World Cup champions, are second on the list. Die Mannschaft, who played their maiden World Cup in 1934, won the first of their four titles in 1954 and since then have made 17 consecutive appearances in World Cups.

Italy were the third country to have the most consecutive appearances in the World Cup, with the run starting from 1962 until they didn’t qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Argentina - two-time World Cup champions - are fourth on the list for most consecutive appearances in the World Cup. La Albiceleste have featured in 12 successive editions so far since 1974.

After featuring in just four World Cups between 1930 and 1977, Spain have gone on to play in 11 consecutive tournaments starting in 1978. La Roja won the 2010 edition when their golden generation thrived between 2006 and 2012 and won back-to-back UEFA Euro titles in 2008 and 2012.

South Korea is the first Asian country to play in 10 consecutive World Cups, after securing qualification for FIFA World Cup 2022. Their best finish at a World Cup was in 2002 when they finished in fourth place.
