The Indian men’s hockey team will take on Belgium in their Tokyo 2020 Olympics semi-final at the Oi Hockey Stadium’s north pitch on Tuesday, August 3.

India marched onto the quarter-finals on the back of a strong Pool A performance and finished second, with their only loss coming at the hands of Australia.

The Men in Blue took the game against Great Britain by the scruff of their neck in the quarter-final and won 3-1 to put India in the medal contention after a gap of 41 years.

The Moscow 1980 Olympics was the last time that Team India won gold in men’s hockey. It was the last of their record eight Olympic golds in the sport. The last time India were in the semi-finals of the Olympics was at Munich 1972.

Belgium, on the other hand, got past Spain 3-1 in the other quarter-final to set up a semi-final clash versus India.

Belgium, on the other hand, finished at the top of their Pool B and have scored 29 times in six matches so far.
