The Indian men’s hockey team will take on Great Britain in their Tokyo 2020 Olympics quarter-finals at the Oi Hockey Stadium’s north pitch on August 1, Sunday.
The Men in Blue, who have risen to the rank of world no. 3 in the latest FIH rankings for men’s hockey, are on a three-match unbeaten run and finished second in Pool A.
Great Britain, meanwhile, finished third in Pool B with two wins, two draws and a loss. The sixth-ranked side in the world are yet to find some momentum, as they have failed to win any of their last three games.
India will start as favourites in the contest, given their performances since the 7-1 defeat to Australia. The eight-time Olympic champions, who made it to the knockouts of the Olympics for the first time in 36 years at Rio 2016, are making their second consecutive knockouts appearance at the Summer Games and will look to enter the semi-finals for the first time since Moscow 1980.
