The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 10 Player Auction will take place in Mumbai on October 9-10, Mashal Sports, the organisers of the league announced on Friday, September 8.

The organisers have announced revised PKL Season 10 Player Auction dates at the request of the Administrator of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India, the officially recognized body for Kabaddi in India. The PKL Season 10 Player Auction was earlier scheduled to be held on September 8-9.

The decision was taken keeping in mind the ongoing preparations of the Indian kabaddi team for the Asian Games 2023 to be held in Hangzhou, China, later this month.

The PKL Season 10 auction will feature domestic, overseas and new young players (NYPs). These players will be divided into four categories: A, B, C and D.

The kabaddi players have been further classified into all-rounders, raiders and defenders. The base price of players in Category A will be INR 30 lakh.

The base price for players in Category B will be INR 20 lakh, while those in Category C and D will have base prices of INR 13 lakh and INR 9 lakh respectively.

Each franchise will have a purse of INR 5 crore for the PKL Season 10 auction. The total salary purse has been increased from INR 4.4 crore after three seasons.

The PKL Season 10 Player Pool comprises over 500 aspirants, including the 24 players from the two finalist teams of the Khelo India University Games 2023.

The 12 PKL franchises have already started building their squads for PKL Season 10 under the League Player Policy.

In August 2023, the PKL teams exercised their option of retaining players from their respective PKL Season 9 squads. The cost of retaining a player will impact the total salary purse of the concerned franchise.

The franchises had the choice of retaining players across three categories - Elite Retained Players (ERP), Retained Young Players (RYP) and Existing New Young Players (ENYP).

A total of 84 players were retained with 22 from the ERP category, 24 in the RYP category and 38 in the ENYP category. The non-retained players, which include star players such as Pawan Sehrawat, Vikash Kandola & Fazel Atrachali, will go under the hammer at the PKL Season 10 Player Auction.

The Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 auction will be telecast live on the Star Sports Network. It will also be livestreamed on Disney+ Hotstar.
