Paris Saint Germain begin their Ligue 1 2022-23 campaign with an away game against Clermont Foot in the early hours of Sunday, August 7.

With one trophy already in the cabinet, having defeated Nantes in the Trophee des Champions final, the management will hope to achieve success in the UEFA Champions League under the new manager Christophe Galtier.

While the month of August is relatively relaxed for the Parisians, the teams they are playing might push them off track early in the campaign. After opening their account against Clermont Foot, PSG play Montpellier, Lille and Monaco in back-to-back encounters.

As far as their Le Classique is concerned, it isn’t until October 16 that they play Marseille in the league. Before that, however, they do play Lyon and Nice.

In terms of transfers, PSG have made quite a few significant signings. This includes 22-year-old midfielder Vitinha who has arrived for a reported €41.5 million fee from Porto. Left-back Nuno Mendes has been acquired on a permanent deal too while Nordi Mukiele has arrived from RB Leipzig.

Furthermore, now that Lionel Messi is settled, the team will hope the Argentina captain will improve his tally from the previous season. Messi scored a mere 11 goals across all competitions in 2021-22, his lowest tally since the 2005-06 season.

On the other hand, the retention of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar’s long-term continuity is certain to make PSG a formidable attacking team this season.
