Meanwhile, the Israeli side, Maccabi Haifa, pulled off an unexpected coup against Juventus on Matchday 4 of the ongoing UEFA Champions League, beating the Old Lady of Turin 2-0 at the Sammy Ofer Stadium in Haifa. Despite the win, they remain at the bottom of the Group H points table this season.
Buoyant by the victory, Maccabi Haifa won two games on the bounce in the latest rounds of the Israeli Premier League 2022-23 to fend off the latest resurgence of Maccabi Tel Aviv in the competition and stay atop the points table with 21 points in nine matches.

Paris Saint-Germain have been regularly making it to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League in the last decade. The Parisians reached their first final in the 2019-20 season, losing to Bayern Munich.
Maccabi Haifa were the first Israeli club to qualify for the group stages of the UCL in the 2002-03 season. This season is only their third appearance in the group stages of this tournament.
Paris Saint-Germain beat Maccabi Haifa 3-1 in Haifa in the only previous match between the two sides, which was held on Matchday 2 of the ongoing campaign. Messi, Neymar and Mbappe were all on the scoresheet for PSG.
