Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will lock horns with J1 League outfit Gamba Osaka in their final pre-season 2022-23 friendly at the Suita City Stadium, Japan on Monday, July 25. The match will kick-off at 3:30 PM IST (Indian Standard Time).
With former Nice manager Christophe Galtier at the helm, the star-studded PSG team will be brimming with confidence after they beat another J1 League side Urawa Reds 3-0 in their previous pre-season fixture on Saturday.
Goals from Pablo Sarabia, Kylian Mbappe and Arnaud Kalimuendo helped the Ligue 1 champions secure a victory.
With another convincing win under their belt, Galtier’s men are unbeaten in their pre-season 2022-23, winning all their three matches so far.
On the other hand, Gamba Osaka have struggled in the ongoing J1 League season, managing just five wins in 22 matches so far. With 21 points from 22 games, Tomohiro Katanosaka’s Gamba Osaka are currently placed 16th in the 18-team standings. They earlier finished 13th in the 2021 season with 44 points from 38 matches.
Earlier, PSG started their Japan tour 2022 with a 2-1 win over reigning J1 League champions Kawasaki Frontale at the Japan National Stadium on Wednesday. Lionel Messi netted the first goal in the 32nd minute before Kalimuendo doubled the lead in the 58th minute. For Kawasaki, Kazuya Yamamura scored a consolation goal.
PSG also defeated Ligue 2 club Quevilly-Rouen 2-0 in the opening fixture of their pre-season 2022-23. Star defender Sergio Ramos and winger Djeidi Gassama were the goal scorers for Les Parisiens.
After wrapping up their Japan tour, PSG will travel to Israel to face FC Nantes for the Trophee des Champions trophy on July 31.
