Manchester United begin the Australian leg of their 2022-23 pre-season schedule with a match against Melbourne Victory at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium on Friday. The match will start at 3:35 PM IST (Indian Standard Time).

MUFC’s 2022-23 pre-season began on a positive note, as they beat Liverpool by 4-0 at Bangkok on Tuesday, July 13. In doing so, they claimed the Bangkok Centenary Cup and the first piece of silverware under new head coach Erik ten Hag.

Summer signing Tyrell Malacia made his debut for the Red Devils as a second-half substitute for Luke Shaw.

Manchester United’s opponents, Melbourne Victory, are a three-time A-League Men’s champion and runners-up from the previous campaign. The Australian team recently announced the signing of former United fan-favourite Luis Nani on a two-year contract.

Nani’s arrival follows the likes of Tomi Juric, Paul Izzo and George Timotheou who joined Victory as part of their summer transfer window spending spree.

Manchester United’s last visit to Australia was back in 2019. The Red Devils registered victories over Perth Glory (2-0) and Leeds United (4-0).
