Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Odisha FC will square off against Maldives’ Maziya Sports and Recreation Club in their fourth Group D match of AFC Cup 2023-24 at the National Football Stadium in Male, Maldives on Tuesday, November 7.
The Maziya vs Odisha FC AFC Cup 2023-24 match will kick off at 3:30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST). Live streaming and telecast of AFC Cup 2023-24 will be available in India.
Under head coach Sergio Lobera, Odisha FC will head into the fixture high on confidence after thrashing Maziya S&RC 6-1 in their previous Group D fixture at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Star defender Mourtada Fall (3’, 19') netted a brace while Carlos Delgado (15'), Amey Ranawade (58'), Isak Vanlalruatfela (62') and Sahil Panwar (90+5’) scored a goal each to help OFC register their first win in AFC Cup history.
With the massive victory, Odisha moved to third spot in the AFC Cup 2023-24 Group D standings with three points from three games.
Earlier, Sergio Lobera’s men started their AFC Cup campaign with a disappointing 0-4 defeat against Mohun Bagan Super Giant. They later went down to Bangladesh’s Bashundhara Kings 2-3 away from home in their second group encounter.
On the other hand, Maziya S&RC will look to bounce back after their demoralising loss against Odisha FC in their last AFC Cup outing.
The Maldivian side earlier began their AFC Cup campaign with an impressive 3-1 win over Bangladesh’s Bashundhara Kings at the Maldives National Football Stadium.
However, Maziya later suffered a 1-2 loss against Mohun Bagan in their second group match at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.
With three points from as many games, Maziya are languishing at the bottom of the Group D standings.
Mohun Bagan are currently leading the Group D standings with seven points, followed by Bashundhara Kings with four points.
Having registered a dominant 6-1 win in their previous meeting against Maziya, Odisha will start as favourites to do the double over the Maldivian club in the ongoing AFC Cup.
As per the tournament format, the group table toppers will progress to the AFC Cup inter-zone play-off semi-finals.
