The Ligue 1 2022-23 season will kick off in the early hours of Saturday, August 6, with Lyon facing newcomers Ajaccio at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais.

Defending champions Paris Saint Germain open their title defence at Clermont Foot.

Owing to 2022 being the World Cup year, the French league will go on a brief break between November and December.

Hence, the last matchday before the World Cup will be played on November 13.

A total of 20 teams will compete in Ligue 1 2022-23, with Toulouse FC, AC Ajaccio and AJ Auxerre being the newly promoted sides.

Paris Saint Germain, who have won 10 Ligue 1 titles and eight since 2012-13, have made four additions to their team roster, with Renato Sanches the most recent recruit.

The Parisiens, on the other hand, saw Argentine winger Angel di Maria and promising attacking midfielder Xavi Simons depart the club.

The likes of Monaco, Lyon, Marseille and Rennes will look to give PSG a confident fight for the title this term.

Meanwhile, the dates for the biggest club rivalry in Ligue 1, the Le Classique, between Marseille and PSG are October 16, 2022, and February 26, 2023.
