The highly-anticipated clash of FC Goa vs Mumbai City FC in the Indian Super League 2020-21 (ISL) season will take place at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa on Wednesday, November 25.

The Gaurs will face their old coach Sergio Lobera, who was in charge of their side for nearly three seasons, from the beginning of the 2017-18 ISL season. Under Lobera, Goa played some attractive football to accumulate the maximum number of goals in all the three ISL seasons.

Several former FC Goa players including Ahmed Jahouh, Hugo Boumous, Mourtada Fall and Mandar Rao Dessai have followed Lobera to join Mumbai City FC.

The Islanders, however, will be without  Jahouh, who was given a red card against NorthEast United FC last Saturday.

While FC Goa had shown tremendous resilience to comeback from two goals down to hold former ISL champions Bengaluru FC 2-2, title favourites Mumbai City FC were stunned 1-0 by NorthEast United.

Interestingly, Spanish striker Igor Angulo, who had helped FCG grab a point, became the first player since Ferran Corominas in the ISL 2018-19 season to score a brace in the first match of the season.

The two teams have faced each other 14 times in the league with the Gaurs holding an edge in the FC Goa vs Mumbai City FC head-to-head stats. While FC Goa have secured seven victories, Mumbai have won four. Three encounters have ended in a draw.

In fact, Mumbai City FC have registered their maximum defeats against FC Goa.

During ISL 2019-20 season, Goa had defeated the Islanders in both the matches, scoring nine goals and conceding four.

On the other hand, in the 14 matches, FC Goa have scored 33 goals against the Islanders while Mumbai have netted 14 goals. On an average, in direct matches, both teams have scored 3.36 goals per game. The stats clearly show that fixture has been a sheer goal-fest.

Meanwhile, in the last encounter against Bengaluru FC, Goa had completed 451 passes to their opponents' 217. Mumbai, on the other hand, came closest to that record with 448 passes.

Both FC Goa and Mumbai City will look to register their first win of the ongoing ISL season.
