The Euro 2024 began on Friday, June 14 as hosts Germany defeated Scotland 5-1 in the opening game at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
Organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), as many as 24 men's national teams are competing for the quadrennial international football championship.
As per the Euro 2024 schedule, these teams will play a total of 51 games across 10 venues in the 17th edition of the UEFA European Championship.
Meanwhile, these participating teams have been divided into six groups of four teams each.
Group A has Germany, Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland, while Group B comprises Spain, Croatia, Italy and Albania.
The likes of Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia and England are placed in Group C. Group D features Poland, Netherlands, Austria and France.
Belgium, Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine are clubbed in Group E, while Group F has Turkey, Georgia, Portugal and Czechia.
Each team will play the other three sides in their group once in a single round-robin format.
The top two teams from each group and the best four third-placed teams will advance to the round of 16.
The knockout stage also comprises quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final. The Euro 2024 final will be played on July 14.
Italy are the defending champions of the UEFA European Football Championship after beating England in the final of the previous edition in 2021.
Germany and Spain are the most successful teams in the tournament’s history with three titles each.
Euro 2024 points system
The Euro 2024 will follow a single round-robin format during the group stage.
Each winning team will get three points for a victory. In case the match ends in a draw, both teams will bag one point each while a defeat will result in no points for the losing side. Get the latest Euro 2024 standings and points table.
