The Bundesliga 2022-23 season will kick-off in the early hours of Saturday, August 6, with defending champions Bayern Munich opening the proceeding against Eintracht Frankfurt at Deutsche Bank Park.
Given that it's the World Cup year, the German league, as with every other league across the globe, will have an extended break as the teams are supposed to release their players for international duty on November 14.
Hence, the last matchday before the World Cup will be played on November 12.
A total of 18 teams will compete in Bundesliga 2022-23, with Schalke and Werden Bremen being the newly promoted sides.
Bayern Munich, who have won each of the last 10 Bundesliga campaigns, have made a significant improvement to their roster, with Sadio Mane and Matthijs de Ligt taking the centre stage. On the other hand, the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Noussair Mazraoui and Mathys Tel will be the new faces too.
It will be interesting to see how Bayern fare without their former talisman Robert Lewandowski, who recently moved to Barcelona. This will be the first time in 12 years that the Bundesliga will miss Lewandowski in action especially since he has won six of the last seven Bundesliga Golden Boot honours.
Title challengers Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, have signed Niklas Sule, Nico Schlotterback, Salih Ozcan and Karim Adeyemi. Furthermore, Mario Gotze will be seen playing in Bundesliga again, this time with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Meanwhile, the dates for the biggest club rivalry in Bundesliga, the Der Klassiker, between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are October 8, 2022, and April 1, 2023.
