South America’s football titans Argentina and Uruguay will clash in a Group B match of Copa America 2021 at the Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha in Brazil on Friday, June 18. This match brings Lionel Messi face-to-face with his former Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez.
“They (Argentina) are very strong up front but I can also make use of the frailties that every team has,” Suarez said in the pre-match press conference.
“With Leo (Messi) I have a friendship. But, obviously, on the pitch, there is no friendship. It's the same as when I had to face him playing against Barcelona and against Argentina," the 34-year-old Suarez added.
Two of the most successful teams in the Copa America tournament, the Uruguay football team has won the title 15 times while Argentina have won the championship 14 times.
