UEFA Euro 2020 winners Italy will lock horns with Copa America 2021 champions Argentina in an inter-confederation one-off clash named Finalissima at the Wembley Stadium in London, England on Thursday, June 2.

Under manager Roberto Mancini, Italy booked their place in Finalissima 2022 after the Azzurri defeated England 3-2 on penalties. The match was tied 1-1 in normal time at Wembley.

On the other hand, Lionel Messi-led Argentina beat arch-rivals Brazil 1-0 in the Copa America 2021 final at Maracana Stadium to secure their place in Finalissima 2022. With this win, Argentina ended their 28-year trophy drought.

Finalissima 2022 will be the third edition of CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions, a football match contested between the winners of the previous South American and European championships.

The inaugural edition of the tournament was held in 1985 where France beat Uruguay 2-0 in Paris while Argentina won the second edition in 1993 by defeating Denmark on penalties at home in Mar del Plata.

As per the rules of Finalissima 2022, the match will be a one-off encounter. If the match ends in a draw after regulation time, there will be no extra time and it will be directly decided by penalty shoot-out.
