Former Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas holds the record for the most clean sheets in the 21st century.
Considered to be one of the greatest goalkeepers of all-time, Casillas kept 439 clean sheets in his professional football career.
Having spent 25 years at Real Madrid, he won all major club trophies including three UEFA Champions Leagues, five La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey titles, four Supercopa de España titles, two UEFA Super Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup and two Intercontinental Cup.
Interestingly, Casillas has also registered the most clean sheets in the Champions League (59). He also holds the record for most clean sheets for the Spain national team (102).
Under Casillas’ leadership, Spain won the 2010 World Cup and European Championships in 2008 and 2012.
The second on the list for most clean sheets in the 21st century features Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.
Buffon has already recorded 420 clean sheets in his professional football career. Having signed a contract extension with Serie B club Parma, Buffon has the opportunity to break Casillas’ record of 439 clean sheets.
Former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is third on the list for most clean sheets in the 21st century. The former Czech international kept 391 clean sheets in his professional career.
Former Spain custodian Pepe Reina and Germany international Manuel Neuer complete the top five list for most clean sheets in the 21st century. While former Liverpool goalkeeper Reina registered 343 clean sheets in his career, Bayern Munich custodian Neuer has already recorded 327 clean sheets in his career so far.
