The Indian Super League (ISL) is the top-tier men’s football league in India, organised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Since its inception in 2014, the ISL has only grown in stature.

Mostly a very competitive league, the ISL has also provided its fair share of one-sided matches over the years.

The record for the biggest win in the Indian Super League belongs to FC Goa. The Gaurs were rampant against Mumbai City FC at home in the 2014-15 season, securing a 7-0 victory.

Meanwhile, the Islanders have also earned a few impressive wins in the ISL of their own. Let us have a look at the biggest wins in the ISL.

FC Goa 7-0 Mumbai City FC (2015)

FC Goa’s dazzling 7-0 victory against Mumbai City FC in 2015 remains the biggest victory margin in the Indian Super League

After a comfortable first half, the Gaurs, managed by Brazilian legend Zico, took a 2-0 lead at half-time. However, FC Goa’s attacking prowess kicked up a notch in the second half, wherein they scored five goals past the Islanders’ defence.

Semboi Haokip and Nigerian centre-forward Dudu scored hat-tricks in front of fans at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Reinaldo scored the final goal of the match in the 90th minute to create the record.

FC Goa finished as runners-up to Chennaiyin FC after an enthralling finale to the 2015 season.

Mumbai City FC 6-1 Kerala Blasters (2018)

Mumbai City FC have, time and again, showcased their goal-scoring potency in the competition. The Islanders forward line, led by Modou Sougou, were in full flow against Kerala Blasters in December 2018, winning by a 6-1 scoreline.

The first half saw an 18-minute hat-trick by Sougou, who consistently tormented the Blasters defence. He added another goal to his tally in the fourth-minute of second half stoppage time to bring the roof down at the Mumbai Football Arena.

Rafael Bastos and Matias Mirabaje were the other goal-scorers for Mumbai. Indian forward Seiminlen Doungel scored Kerala’s only goal in the first half.

Mumbai City FC 6-1 Odisha FC (2021)

Mumbai City FC’s other 6-1 win in the Indian Super League was away from home at Odisha in February 2021. Masterminded by head coach Sergio Lobera, the Islanders displayed a brilliant offensive performance at the GMC Athletics Stadium.

Odisha’s Diego Mauricio opened the scoring from the spot in the ninth minute. However, it was all Mumbai after that. Bartholomew Ogbeche soon equalised and added another goal before half-time.

Bipin Singh scored once before half-time and then added two more in the second-half to complete his first hat-trick in the Indian Super League.

At the end of the 2020-21 season, Mumbai City FC were crowned champions of the ISL, beating ATK Mohun Bagan in the final.
