DFB Pokal 2022-23: Watch live streaming and telecast in India

The DFB Pokal 2022-23 will see reigning champions RB Leipzig defend their title against top German teams from across divisions, including Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. The 80th edition of the DFB Pokal kicked off July 29, 2022 and will conclude with the final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on June 3 next year.

A total of 64 clubs will compete for the DFB Pokal title. The German Cup competition includes teams from the Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2 and 3rd Division as well as lower tier regional leagues.

A total of 63 matches will take place in the competition this season. Following the first and second rounds, teams will compete in the Round of 16, starting on January 31, 2023. The quarter-finals will be conducted from April 4, 2023, while the semi-finals are set to begin on May 2, 2023. The Olympiastadion has hosted every DFB Pokal final since 1985.

Each round of the DFB Pokal will consist of one game per team. The matches are in the knockout format, meaning that in case of a tie, the teams will play extra time and then move on to penalty shootouts if need be.

The winner of the DFB Pokal 2022-23 will secure automatic qualification for next season’s UEFA Europa League, offering an opportunity for clubs in the lower-half of the Bundesliga as well as other lower leagues to play European football.

Bayern Munich have won 20 DFB Pokal titles, the most by any club in the history of the competition. The Bavarians last won the title in the 2019-20 season, beating Bayer Leverkusen in the final.

After finishing runners up to Dortmund in 2020-21, RB Leipzig beat SC Freiburg via penalty shootout in the final of the 2021-22 edition to win their maiden title.
