So that is it from this game! Rajasthan have got a big victory against Chennai to set the ball rolling for their season. Chennai will now look to bounce back from this loss. Action continues on Wednesday, 23rd September as Kolkata get their campaign underway against the defending champions Mumbai. That game begins at 1800 local (1400 GMT). We hope to see you for that one. Till then, goodbye and take care!

Sanju Samson, the MAN OF THE MATCH, says that his gameplan was if it is in the arc, he will go for the big shots. Adds that he looks to show intent from the very first ball. Says that he has been working hard for the past one year on his fitness and diet. Sanju says that his role is to attack and he has been developing his attacking skills. Says that he loves to keep wickets and whatever his captain says, he is happy to do it. Goes onto say that they are very fortunate to play and entertain the people at home who are watching them on television.

Steven Smith, the Rajasthan skipper, says that Jofra played really with the bat! Adds that Samson played a terrific knock at the start and this match saw some huge sixes. States that Samson has been a great player for them for some years now. Goes onto say that he will keep everyone guessing when asked if he will move down the order when Buttler comes back. Says that the bowlers did really well as the ball was very wet and they managed to take wickets in the middle. Smith says that Gopal mixed it up pretty well and he has bowled in the Powerplay in the past.

Jofra Archer says that he planned not to give any pace to the batsmen. Adds that he has got some variations up his sleeve and he did not bring that up in this game. States that there was dew in this ground and the bowlers adapted well, especially the spinners. Says that the team which adapts well usually wins the game.

MS Dhoni, the Chennai skipper, says that they needed to have a good start but they did not. Adds that Smith and Samson played really well and they took the game away from Chennai. States that the bowlers did not bowl short but they came back nicely towards the end. Says that it is difficult to control the opposition's batters. Goes onto say that he has not batted for a very long time and he wanted to try some new things like sending Sam up the order. Dhoni says that Faf batted really well and the key is to adapt and it is important to target the long on and the mid-wicket area which du Plessis did really well.

Earlier in the evening, after being put into bat, Rajasthan got off to a poor start but it was the Sanju Samson show as he was at his demolishing best. His 74 off just 32 balls along with a supporting 47-ball 69 from Steven Smith turned the tide in their favour and laid the foundation for the win. Special mention to Jofra Archer whose unbeaten 27 off just 8 balls proved to be the difference between 195 and 216. It was a tough day for the Chennai bowlers especially Ngidi and Chawla. Sam Curran though did well and finished with 3/33.

It was a well-rounded bowling performance from Rajasthan and credit has to be given to Steven Smith for his use of his resources. He rotated the bowlers well and utilised them perfectly. Rahul Tewatia was the star with the ball, finishing with 3/37. Archer was terrific, giving away just 26 and picking up one wicket. Tom Curran was taken to the cleaners in the final over but the game was over by then. Barring Unadkat, every bowler picked up a wicket. All-in-all, a satisfying performance from Rajasthan.

A very poorly constructed chase from Chennai. They started off steadily with Watson firing but lost the plot especially in the middle. Faf du Plessis started off slow but managed to change gears towards the end but it was too little too late. The fact that skipper, MS Dhoni came so low down the order in such a mammoth chase was a bizarre decision. We did get to see some trademark Dhoni hitting towards the end but it came when the game was already done. All-in-all a very un-Chennai like performance from them.

Superb performance from Rajasthan and they have managed to upset a very strong Chennai side. Remember this was not a full strength Rajasthan side as they missed their key stars in Buttler and Stokes but they have managed to thump the 3-time champions and one can say they have won the game comprehensively.
