End of the first of 3 double-headers on the trot. Yawn. A tiring day at the office. But two good games. First, Sydney Sixers found a way to lose while chasing 129 and in the second game, Glenn Maxwell showed a glimpse of his 'Big Show' abilities. It is two losses in a row for the Heat but they need not worry for now. This is a long tournament, unlike previous seasons.

GLENN MAXWELL is the unanimous choice for the MAN OF THE MATCH award. Says that it's a nice way to start the tournament and praises his boys for the way they bowled, especially at the backend. Lauds Sandeep Lamichhane and Adam Zampa for their efforts and he is very proud of them. Hopes that this thing continues. On the squad they have acquired for this season, Maxwell shares that they have tried to cover all the bases. He has a word of praise for Haris Rauf and terms his performance outstanding. On his batting, Maxwell replies that he has been feeling good all summer and it was just the mental side of the game. On the next game, Maxwell suggests that starting well with the bat is one thing they want to focus on with the kind of firepower they have in the middle.

The Stars bowled better as well, as compared to the Heat. The duo of Zampa and Lamichhane went for a combined 68 runs in 8 overs, took some stick early on but ended up with 4 wickets. And Haris Rauf from Pakistan - he has pace. Serious pace. Can clock the 150s. He was given the ball again in the 18th over when Heat needed 37 and Renshaw was going well. But his 8-run over there piled on immense pressure which resulted in the wicket of Renshaw in the next over. No disrespect to Daniel Worrall but had Rauf gone for more than 10 in that over, we might have had a closer match.

Not a pitch for the batsmen. Both sides saw struggles with exceptions. It was a Glenn Maxwell show in the first innings. A Tom Banton classic in the second. But the contributions of the other Stars batsmen were much better than the ones from the Heat. Only three men managed to get double digits. If you look at the Stars, Stoinis, Cartwright and Handscomb spent some time in the middle which allowed Maxwell to play his innings. Sadly for the Heat, both Banton and Renshaw were pretty much alone when they played their knocks.

Comfortable win for the Stars then. Two batsmen from the Heat threatened to undo Maxwell's superlative effort but once Tom Banton was dismissed, the win was almost certain. It became totally certain once Matt Renshaw got out.

    Over: 20 | 3 Runs

    Haris Rauf to Ben Laughlin

MELBOURNE STARS WIN BY 22 RUNS! Rauf fires in a length ball on off, Laughlin doesn't try to do anything fancy and offers a straight bat in defense. It takes the inside half and strikes him on the pads. All over, a perfect start to the season for the Stars in their attempt to go one better from the last edition.

Ben Laughlin is the final batsman to face the final ball.

    W 19.5
    Haris Rauf to Mitchell Swepson

OUT! The off stump is pegged back. Rauf has been very impressive on his debut. Bowling with a lot of fire and venom. Delivers a length ball around off at 146.7 kph, Swepson backs away to hit it over the off side but is beaten for pace. The off stump gets destroyed and Rauf pumps his fist.

    1 19.4
    Haris Rauf to Josh Lalor

Darts in a length ball on middle, Lalor stays back and defends it to mid-wicket. The region is vacant and they cross for a run.
