The India women’s cricket team will begin their ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 campaign against Pakistan women at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Sunday, March 6. The game will start at 6:30 AM IST.
India women, for starters, are making their 10th appearance in the ICC Women’s World Cup, with their best results coming as runners-up in the 2005 and the 2017 editions.
Mithali Raj, India women’s most prolific player at the Women’s World Cup, was the leading run-getter for the team in the last Women’s World Cup (2017) and will captain the Women in Blue for the fourth time in the 50-over World Cup.
Pakistan women, on the other hand, are playing their fifth ICC Women’s World Cup. The team, led by Bismah Maroof, made it to the tournament on account of their ranking in the ICC ODI Team Rankings after the Women's World Cup Qualifiers in 2021 was called off due to COVID-19.
Pakistan have struggled with results at the ICC Women’s World Cup with their best performance being a fifth-place finish in the 2009 edition of the tournament.
As far as the India women vs Pakistan women WODI head-to-head record is concerned, India have won all the 10 50-over matches played between the teams. The teams met last in the 2017 50-over World Cup as India women claimed a 95-run victory.
