The India women’s cricket team thrashed arch-rivals Pakistan by eight wickets in their encounter at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 at Edgbaston on July 31.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first, but were bowled out for 99 in 18 overs. Muneeba Ali (32) was the top run-getter as India's Sneh Rana and Radha Yadav grabbed two wickets each in their respective spells.

In reply, the Women in Blue hit 102/2 in 11.4 overs. Riding on Smriti Mandhana's 42-ball 63, India claimed the first win of their CWG 2022 campaign after their three-wicket loss to Australia in their opening game. 

India women and Pakistan women faced each other for the first time in the Women’s Asia Cup in Karachi in 2005.

After a Mithali Raj-led India won the toss and elected to bat first, the Women in Blue rode on Jaya Sharma’s unbeaten 138 off 150 balls and Anjum Chopra’s 86 not out off 112 balls to post 289/2 in their quota of 50 overs.

In reply, Pakistan were bundled out for 96 as the visitors secured a massive 193-run victory.

Since then, India have completely dominated Pakistan in the 50-over format, winning all 11 matches that they have played against them so far.

In the India women vs Pakistan women head-to-head record in the T20 format, the India eves have won 10 of the 12 matches that they have played so far. Pakistan women have secured just two victories.

Meanwhile, both sides are yet to play a Test match.
