Punjab beat Hyderabad by 5 runs in a final over thriller at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday, September 25.

Put into bat, Punjab batters struggled to get going on a slow Sharjah pitch as they lost wickets at regular intervals. However, they managed to put up 126 runs on the board in their quota of 20 overs.

In reply, Hyderabad lost both Warner and Williamson early as Shami found movement with the new ball. However, the southern franchise kept losing wickets at regular intervals as they failed to build momentum.

In the end, it was up to Jason Holder's brisk 47 off 29 that brought the match within touching distance to victory. However, with 17 needed of the last over, he failed to get Hyderabad over the line on a wicket that was slowing down considerably.

With this loss, Hyderabad are now out of contention for the playoffs spot in this year's Indian T20 League
