Sharjah Cricket Stadium: Know the average scores and highest scores by teams at the venue

The Sharjah Cricket Stadium in UAE is one of the most historic and popular cricket stadiums in the world. Established in 1982, the stadium has a seating capacity of over 16,000. The Sharjah Cricket Stadium has hosted the most number of ODI matches (240) in the history of international cricket. 

The venue has previously served as a home ground for teams like Afghanistan and Pakistan besides also hosting matches for franchise league tournaments like Pakistan Super League, Indian T20 League and Abu Dhabi T10 League. The 2018 Blind Cricket World Cup final was also played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.  

The iconic venue is set to stage 11 matches in the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021.

Afghanistan’s 215/6 against Zimbabwe in January 2016 is the highest T20I score at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Netherland’s 44 against Sri Lanka in October 2021 is the lowest T20I score recorded at the venue.

140/3 by Afghanistan against Zimbabwe back in March 2013 is the highest successful chase at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in T20I cricket.

The ground has already witnessed totals in excess of 170 crossed four times in the limited number of T20Is played at the venue. Batting-friendly pitch and smaller boundaries on either side of the wicket usually make for a run-scoring fest at Sharjah.

The average score for teams batting first at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the Indian T20 League is 171 runs. Up to 61.10 percent of the matches have been won by teams chasing as opposed to 38.90 percent by sides batting first in the league. The 2020 edition of the Indian T20 League saw 178 as the average first innings score for teams batting first at Sharjah. 

Rajasthan's 90/9 against Mumbai in October 2021 is the lowest score recorded at Sharjah in the Indian T20 League. 

In the 2020 edition of the Indian T20 League, 228/2 by Delhi against Chennai was the highest score at the venue. Meanwhile, Rajasthan’s 226/6 against Punjab is the highest successful run-chase at Sharjah in the Indian T20 League.
