The excitement is building with the start of Global Canada T20 2023 on the horizon. The third edition of the International Cricket Council (ICC) recognised tournament is slated to begin on Friday, July 21.

Organised by Cricket Canada, six teams are participating in the upcoming 20-over tournament following a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The six teams participating in Global T20 Canada 2023 are Brampton Wolves, Mississauga Panthers, Montreal Tigers, Surrey Jaguars, Toronto Nationals, and Vancouver Knights.

All teams comprise a squad of 16 players made up of talents from both full and associate nations.

Out of these 16 players, all teams must have six Canadian players - three from the national team - four players from associate nations, and six international players, including two marquee talents.

Previous editions of this tournament have seen participation from renowned names like Chris Gayle, Yuvraj Singh, and Lasith Malinga, while Harbhajan Singh, Andre Russell, Alex Hales, Shakib Al Hasan, and Shahid Afridi will be participating in Global T20 Canada 2023.

For the upcoming season of Global T20 Canada, all six teams built their squads through a player draft with a purse limit of US dollars 579,500 and a squad limit of 16 players, taking into account further constraints for the number of marquee players.
