The Asia Cup Qualifier 2022 is all set to be held from August 20 to August 24 in Oman.
It is a four-team competition that will determine which nation will grab the sixth spot in the main Asia Cup 2022 cricket tournament starting on August 27 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Defending champions India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and the winner of the Asia Cup Qualifier 2022 will compete for the coveted title.
Singapore, Hong Kong, UAE and Kuwait are the four teams that will feature in the Asia Cup Qualifier 2022.
While Kuwait and UAE advanced to the Asia Cup qualifier after reaching the final of the Western Region group, Singapore and Hong Kong sealed their spot after finishing as the top two teams in the Eastern Group.
As per the schedule, each nation will play against each other in the round-robin format in the Asia Cup Qualifier 2022. The table-topper will qualify for the main event.
All matches of Asia Cup Qualifier 2022 will be played at Al Amerat Cricket Ground (Ministry Turf 1) in Oman.
The Asia Cup Qualifier was earlier scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur in August 2020. However, the Asia Cup was postponed to July 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament was once again postponed to August 2022.
The Asia Cup 2022 main tournament has also been moved from Sri Lanka to UAE due to the economic and political crisis in Sri Lanka.
