Established in 2012, the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium is located about 15 kilometres south-east of the centre of the city of Muscat. 

The venue is owned by the Oman Cricket Board and has a seating capacity of 3,000.

The Al Amerat Cricket Stadium staged its first T20 international match between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in January 2019.  Since then, it has hosted 30 T20Is.

Ahead of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, the venue was renovated with new floodlights, pavilion, VIP and VVIP seating along with dedicated commentary boxes.  The scoreboard at the stadium was also upgraded to a digital scoreboard.

Al Amerat Cricket Ground also hosted six matches in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, including three of Oman’s games.

The venue will host the upcoming Legends Cricket League which will feature the likes of Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Daren Sammy, Daniel Vettori, Brett Lee, Kevin Pietersen and Imran Tahir.

Let’s have a look at the T20 records made at Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Muscat, Oman.

Highest team total: Kuwait cricket team posted 210/4 against Bahrain during an ACC Western Region match in 2019, which is the highest T20 score at Al Amerat Cricket Stadium. Twin fifties from Kuwait openers Ravija Sandaruwan (67) and Usman Patel (58) helped their side register a massive score on the board. Kuwait bundled Bahrain out for 123 and won the match by 87 runs.

Lowest team total: Nepal were bundled out for 64 against hosts Oman in a Pentangular T20I Series match in 2019. Nepal’s 64 all out is the lowest team total at the venue. Left-arm spinner Aamir Kaleem was the wrecker-in-chief for Oman as he picked five wickets for 15 runs. Oman chased down the total in 11.5 overs with six wickets in hand.

Highest individual score: Ireland’s swashbuckling batter Kevin O'Brien holds the record for the highest individual score at Al Amerat Cricket Stadium. Opening the innings, O'Brien smashed 124 off just 62 balls against Hong Kong during an Oman Pentangular T20I Series match in 2019. Ireland eventually won the match by 66 runs.

Best bowling figures: Oman cricketer Aamir Kaleem has the best bowling figures at this venue. The left-arm spinner bagged five wickets for 15 runs against Nepal in a Pentangular T20I Series match in 2019.

Most runs: Indian-born Omani cricketer Jatinder Singh has scored the most runs at Al Amerat Cricket Stadium. The right-handed top-order batter has amassed 328 i at an average of 41 and strike rate of 126.64.

Most wickets: Oman left-arm pacer Bilal Khan has claimed the most wickets at this ground. The Pakistan-born cricketer has picked 16 wickets at Al Amerat Cricket Stadium at an average of 14.12.

Highest partnership: Oman opening batters Khawar Ali and Jatinder Singh have forged the highest partnership for any wicket at this venue. The duo registered an unbeaten 132-run opening stand against Maldives during a ACC Western Region T20 encounter in 2020. Oman won the match by 10 wickets.
