The India women’s cricket team defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in their Women's T20 World Cup 2023 encounter at Newlands Stadium, Cape Town in South Africa on February 12, which is their latest triumph over their neighbours.

Electing to bat first, Pakistan Women rode on Bismah Maroof's unbeaten 68 off just 55 balls and a cameo from Ayesha Naseem (43* off 25 balls) to post a competitive total of 149/4 in their alotted 20 overs.

Thereafter, India Women's strong batting performance, led by Jemimah Rodrigues' unbeaten 53 off 38 balls and wicket-keeper batter Richa Ghosh's mature 20-ball 31* knock powered their side to an entertaining seven-wicket victory to kickstart Team India's campaign on a winning note.

India women and Pakistan women faced each other for the first time in the Women’s Asia Cup in Karachi in 2005.

After a Mithali Raj-led India won the toss and elected to bat first, the Women in Blue rode on Jaya Sharma’s unbeaten 138 off 150 balls and Anjum Chopra’s 86 not out off 112 balls to post 289/2 in their quota of 50 overs.

In reply, Pakistan were bundled out for 96 as the visitors secured a massive 193-run victory.

Since then, India have completely dominated Pakistan in the 50-over format, winning all 11 matches that they have played against them so far.

In the India women vs Pakistan women head-to-head record in the T20 format, the India eves have won 11 of the 14 matches that they have played so far. Pakistan women have secured just three victories.

Meanwhile, both sides are yet to play a Test match.
