Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal currently holds the honour of having picked up the most T20I wickets for India.
The Haryana-born cricketer has picked 72 T20I wickets in 57 matches at an average of 25.25 and an economy of 8.23. During England’s tour of India in 2017, Chahal registered his best bowling figures of 6/25 in the third T20I at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The leg-spinner has two four-wicket hauls and one-five wicket haul in his T20I career so far.
India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is second on the list for most T20I wickets for India. Bumrah has claimed 67 wickets in 57 T20I matches at an average of 19.89 and an impressive economy of 6.50.
The right-arm pacer’s best bowling figure of 3/11 came against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2016.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar features third on the list of most T20I wickets for India. The India fast bowler has bagged 64 T20I wickets in 62 matches at an economy of 6.96 and an average of 24.01.
The Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer has registered two four-wicket hauls and one-five wicket haul in the shortest format.
Kumar’s best bowling figures of 5/24 came against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2018.
India spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja complete the top five list.
While Ashwin has scalped 61 wickets in 51 T20I matches at an economy of 6.79 and an average of 21.27, Jadeja has picked 48 T20I wickets in 58 matches at an average of 27.45 and an economy of 7.04.
Ashwin’s best bowling figures in T20I format is 4/8, which was registered against Sri Lanka in Visakhapatnam in 2016. On the other hand, Jadeja claimed three wickets for just 13 runs in his quota of four overs against Scotland in a group match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2021. This is Jadeja’s best bowling figures in the shortest format.
In women’s cricket, Poonam Yadav has picked the most T20I wickets for India. The leg-spinner has claimed 98 wickets in 72 matches at an average of 15.25 and an economy of just 5.75 runs per over.
Off-spinner Deepti Sharma features second on the list with 60 T20I wickets in 58 matches at an economy of 6.13. Veteran fast bowler Jhulan Goswami is third on the list with 56 wickets in 68 T20I matches at an average of 21.94 and an economy of 5.45.
