Former Australia pacer and SportsAdda’s brand ambassador, Brett Lee has backed Bangalore captain Virat Kohli to top the run-scoring charts in the 13th edition of the Indian T20 League.

The former Kolkata bowler, who has tipped Chennai to win this year’s showpiece, said that the Indian captain has been in a fantastic form in all three formats, and he expects him to continue his foray in the tournament.

King Kohli for Orange Cap

While the Hyderabad batsmen have dominated the run-scoring department for the last three years, Lee has said that he is backing Virat Kohli this time around.

“For the leading run-scorer, I’m going to back king Kohli. He has been sensational in all three formats of the game, and I think he’s going to have another fantastic (Indian T20 League),” said Lee.

The Bangalore captain has been a reliable presence in the Indian T20 League, scoring more than 400 runs in his last two season. His best return, however, came in the 2016 edition where he smashed records after records to score 973 runs in 16 games at an average of 81.08. That year, Kohli scored four centuries and seven half-centuries en route to winning the Orange Cap.

With a better batting contingent around him this year in Aaron Finch and Chris Morris, expect him to wreak havoc in the UAE.

As things stand, Warner has clinched in honour three times in the last five years starting from 2015. That year, the Hyderabad opener smashed 562 runs in 14 innings to finish on the top. The hard-hitting Aussie was at it once again in 2017, scoring 641 runs in 14 innings. In 2018, New Zealand's Kane Williamson continued the trend for Hyderabad by scoring 735 runs in 17 innings at an average of 52.50. And last year, Warner got back what was his, this time scoring 692 runs at an average of 69.20.
