Australia women dominate list for highest score in Women’s World Cup
The Australia women’s cricket team holds the record for the highest score in the Women’s World Cup.
Australia, a record seven-time winners of the ICC Women's World Cup, registered the highest score in their Group A encounter against Denmark in the 1997 ICC Women’s World Cup.
Batting first, the Australia women’s cricket team posted a total of 412/3 in 50 overs with captain Belinda Clark hitting an unbeaten 229 runs off 155 balls. Clark’s knock has gone down in the record books as the second-best individual score in women’s ODI history.
The Aussies eventually won the match by 363 runs after bowling out Denmark for 49 in 25.5 overs.
The England women’s cricket team are second on the list for highest score in the Women’s World Cup courtesy their 377/7 against Pakistan in the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup.
This performance bettered their previous record of 376/2 against Pakistan women in 1997, which stood as England’s best score at the Women’s World Cup for 20 years.
The New Zealand women’s cricket team is fourth on this list. Centuries from skipper Haidee Tiffen (100) and Suzie Bates (168) guided the Kiwis to a total of 373/7 against Pakistan in the 2009 edition of the tournament. The Kiwis went on to comfortably win the match by 223 runs.
England completes the top-five list for highest scores registered at the Women’s World Cup. Electing to bat first in the 2017 Women’s World Cup fixture, the hosts put on a total of 373/5 against South Africa and successfully defended their score to earn a 68-run win.
In 2022, the Indian women’s cricket team registered their highest score in the Women’s World Cup. Centuries from opener Smriti Mandhana (123) and Harmanpreet Kaur (109) guided India to a score of 317/8 in their encounter against West Indies.
In response, West Indies could manage just 162 in 40.3 overs with India’s Sneh Rana grabbing three wickets.
