Cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar being ridiculed for his role as an expert on air is no news. But when an international cricketer questions his credentials, it’s bound to create some ripples.
On Wednesday, it was Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja who took to Twitter to take a dig at Manjrekar. The Gujarat-born was replying to Manjrekar’s comments, “I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in the 50-overs cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-overs cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner,” the former India international had said when asked if he would prefer Jadeja in place of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav in India’s upcoming games.
“You never actually base your judgements on exceptional results. India losing to England was an exceptional result. Spinner going for runs is exceptional and you have to understand that,” he added.
Jadeja replied to the same in a Tweet which read: “Still I have played twice the number of matches you have played and I m still playing. Learn to respect people who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea. @sanjaymanjrekar”

This, however, is not the first time that Manjrekar has been on the receiving end of severe criticism for sharing his opinion. During the 2017 Indian T20 League, West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard had hit out at the commentator for his remarks.

In 2017, in what eventually turned out to be a light-hearted banter, former cricketers Aakash Chopra and Vinod Kambli too were involved in a Twitter battle over India’s decision to take an out-of-form Ajinkya Rahane on their tour of South Africa.
Chopra started the dialogue with the following tweet
Good on India to send Rahane at 3....must get some runs before boarding the flight to SA. #IndvSL

This, however, was not well received by Kambli, and he let his heart out with the following reply:

Chopra, however, chose to take the discussion off Twitter.
