Dabang Delhi K.C. raider Ajay Thakur will miss the remainder of Pro Kabaddi Season 8. The veteran raider has left the bio-bubble in Bengaluru and will be replaced by Nitin Panwar.

However, there are speculations behind the exact reason for his withdrawal from PKL Season 8.

While Khel Now reported a disagreement between Ajay Thakur and the Delhi team over the lack of game time, the player said that he had to leave the tournament mid-way due to an injury.

“I have a back injury due to which I couldn’t play… I tried to recover at the camp but could not because there was no time to rest,” Ajay Thakur said during an Instagram live session from his home.

“The doctor has said that I have a minor fracture and I need proper rest to recover,” he added.

Ajay Thakur featured in only five out of the 13 matches Dabang Delhi K.C. have played so far in Pro Kabaddi Season 8. In those matches, the Himachal-born raider managed to score just four raid points from his 13 raids.

The 2019 Padma Shri winner is amongst the top 10 raiders of all-time in Pro Kabaddi with 794 raid points in 120 matches. He was bought for INR 46 lakhs in the Pro Kabaddi Season 8 auction held in October last year.

The absence of Ajay Thakur is expected to be a big jolt to the Delhi side who are already grappling in absence of Naveen Kumar and Joginder Narwal.

The Season 7 runners-up Delhi are currently placed at the third spot in the standings with seven wins from 13 encounters.
