The Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) announced the Indian squad for Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023 on Wednesday, May 24.

After conducting a coaching camp at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna to prepare for the Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023 in the South Korean city of Busan, AKFI announced a strong squad that comprises 12 players along with a further two players on standby.

The India squad for the 2023 Asian Kabaddi Championship is made up of superstar raiders like Arjun Deshwal - the top-scorer in Pro Kabaddi Season 9 - along with Naveen Kumar, who is a two-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) award winner in PKL.

Other top raiding talents in the Indian squad for Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023 include Hi-Flyer Pawan Sehrawat, Mohit Goyat, Sachin Tanwar, and Aslam Inamdar.

The Indian team has also named a strong defence with the likes of the experienced Surjeet Singh, Sunil Kumar, Parvesh Bhainswal, Nitesh Kumar, Vishal Bhardwaj, and all-rounder Nitin Rawal, all making the cut.

The AKFI also announced a couple of standby players along with the main squad. These two players are all-rounder Vijay Malik and defender Shubham Shinde.

The Indian contingent will be led by a coaching staff that includes the likes of Dronacharya and Arjun Award Winner Mr. Ashan Kumar as well as another Arjuna Award Winner in Sanjeev Baliyan. Former Indian team coach E. Bhaskaran is set to be the manager of the team.

The upcoming edition of the Asian Kabaddi Championship will be the 11th edition of the tournament. It will take place from June 27 to 30 in Busan, Korea.

India is the most successful team in Asian Kabaddi Championship history having won the tournament multiple times, while Iran is the only other nation that has got their hands on the continental championship.
