The 69th Men’s Senior National Kabaddi Championship 2022 will start on July 21 and run till July 24 at Charkhi Dadri, Haryana.

The tournament, organised by the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI), is one of the most important events in India for kabaddi, and it is a perfect platform for all kabaddi players to showcase their talent and attract the national selectors’ attention.

The Men’s Senior National Kabaddi Championship 2022 will see some top stars from Pro Kabaddi in action throughout the tournament. Besides them, domestic players will hope to showcase their credentials on the mat as they target Pro Kabaddi franchises to sign them for PKL Season 9.

“The Men’s Senior National Kabaddi Championship is a very important tournament for us, as it’s the competition where we have an opportunity to excel and stay in the minds of the Pro Kabaddi scouts,” said Bengaluru Bulls star Pawan Sehrawat.

“A good performance in the senior nationals can help players better their position in Pro Kabaddi, which will help them to propel their careers further,” he added.

Another Pro Kabaddi star player Naveen Kumar, from Dabang Delhi, asserted how vital the 69th Men’s Senior National Kabaddi Championship 2022 is for him to keep fit. “I am really looking forward to the Nationals as it’s one of the biggest competitions for us,” Naveen Kumar said.

“I have been training very hard for it and I hope to enthral the kabaddi fans. Pro Kabaddi Season 8 really helped us in training and getting back in action,” he added.

The Indian Railways enter the 69th Men’s Senior National Kabaddi Championship 2022 as the defending champions. They took down the Services team 44-23 in the final of the last Men’s Senior National Kabaddi Championship in 2021, held in Uttar Pradesh.

The competition will have a total of 60 matches. The initial 45 games will be a round-robin phase, with each team facing the other sides in their pool once.

The top two teams from each pool (A - H) will qualify for the knockout stage, where the eight winning sides will move into the quarter-finals.

The semi-finals and finals of the 69th Men’s Senior National Kabaddi Championship 2022 are likely to be held on Sunday, July 24.
