Record European champions Real Madrid travel to Stamford Bridge to take on title defenders Chelsea in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League 2021-22 quarter-final on Thursday, April 7. The match will kick off at 12:30 AM IST.

Chelsea, fresh off from a 4-1 home defeat to Brentford in the Premier League, are expected to have to welcome most of their first-team regulars apart from the obvious absentee Ben Chilwell. Christian Pulisic, who missed the Brentford defeat, will be back as well.

As for Real Madrid, Eden Hazard will miss the much-awaited Chelsea return due to injury while forward Luka Jovic is a doubt too.

Chelsea vs Real Madrid recent form

Prior to their 4-1 defeat to Brentford, Chelsea were on quite a run, winning each of their last six matches across all competitions. This includes crucial league win over Newcastle United and the elimination of Middlesbrough from the FA Cup quarter-final.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, did win their recent outing against Celta Vigo, but one just cannot forget their humiliating 0-4 defeat at hands of Barcelona at their own turf.

Chelsea vs Real Madrid head-to-head

Since their first meeting in 1971, Chelsea and Real Madrid have faced each other five times in all. During those outings, the Blues have come out on top on three occasions while Real are yet to win any.

One of Chelsea's three wins over Real Madrid came in the semi-final of UCL 2020-21 when the Blues defeated Los Blancos 2-0 at home.

Chelsea vs Real Madrid prediction for UEFA Champions League 2021-22

Chelsea, despite losing their recent home game, have already defeated Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge in the past. This probably explains why they have better odds as compared to Madrid.

On top of that, the Blues haven’t lost a UCL game since September 2021 while Real did lose their round of 16 first leg tie against Paris Saint-Germain.
