Footballing powerhouses Real Madrid and Manchester City have squared off several times in Europe's premier competitions in recent years.

Widely regarded as the best football club of all-time, Real Madrid is Spain’s most decorated team with the most La Liga titles (35) to their credit.

They have also won more UEFA Champions League titles (14) than any other team in the history of the competition besides boasting 20 Copa del Rey triumphs to go along with five FIFA Club World Cup trophies.

Manchester City, on the other hand, may not boast the rich history and tradition that Real does but there’s no doubting the fact that they are the one the leading clubs in world football at the moment and the best team in England by quite some distance.

They’ve won eight English league titles, six of which have come in the last decade itself, highlighting their dominance in English football.

City has also won the FA Cup six times and the League Cup on occasions, making them one of English football’s most successful teams despite the lack of silverware on the European stage.

Known for their enterprising attacks and never-say-die spirit that sees them give their all from the first to the final whistle, both teams usually produce classic encounters when facing each other.

Here, we take a closer look at how these clubs have fared against each other ever since their first meeting in 2012.
