The Premier League 2021-22 season is approaching gameweek 34, and the title race between holders Manchester City and Liverpool is expected to go down the wire.

The title contenders - City and Liverpool - recently clashed in gameweek 32 with the match ending 2-2. While Kevin de Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus netted for the Sky Blues, Liverpool’s attacking duo Diego Jota and Sadio Mane scored to spare the Reds’ blushes in the title race.

Who will be the Premier League 2021-22 winner?

Manchester City top the Premier League winning odds list, with odds of 1.44 to win the Premier League 2021-22 title.

Should they win the league, Pep Guardiola’s men will become the first side since cross-city rivals Manchester United to defend their title successfully more than once since the Premier League era started in 1992.

United did it in 1992-93 and 1993-94, 1995-96 and 1996-97, 1998-99, 1999-00 and 2000-01; 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09. City, meanwhile, successfully retained their title in 2018-19.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, on the other hand, are placed with 2.62 odds to win the Premier League this season.

Chelsea, currently third on the Premier League points table, have an outside chance to possibly win the English top flight league. The Blues are placed 501.00 on the Premier League winning odds list.

Manchester City: 1.44

Liverpool: 2.62

Chelsea: 501.00

Remaining schedule: Who enjoys the favourable run in the Premier League 2021-22 title race?

Manchester City, with a game in hand, have an easy run-in as compared to nearest rivals Liverpool.

City’s schedule includes fixtures against Brighton, Watford, Leeds, Newcastle, West Ham, Aston Villa and a postponed game against Wolves.

While the defending champions do not face any of the ‘Big Six’, the trajectory of the Premier League title race could shift should Man City drop points against David Moyes’ West Ham and Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have some tricky fixtures lined up. While they got the better of Manchester United with a convincing 4-0 victory in the midweek and could possibly do so in the Merseyside derby against Everton, the Reds will need to up the ante to avoid dropping crucial points against the likes of Newcastle, Tottenham and Aston Villa.

Can Chelsea win the Premier League?

Realistically speaking, Chelsea are out of the race to win the Premier League. The Blues face Arsenal and Manchester United in back-to-back crunch ties before taking on the likes of Everton, Wolves, Leeds and Leicester before hosting relegation-threatened Watford.

At the most, Thomas Tuchel’s men can possibly tally 86 points from the season - four short of their 2016/17 total and one off the 2014/15 total that won them their last English top-flight title.
