The wee hours of Wednesday, April 20 will see Liverpool hosting Manchester United at Anfield in the rescheduled matchday 30 of the Premier League 2021-22 season. The match will kick off at 12:30 AM IST.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to work with a fully-fit squad against Manchester United. On the contrary, the Red Devils have several players currently nursing their injuries. This includes the likes of Fred, Scot McTominay, Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw.

However, there is a chance that Manchester United might welcome defender Raphael Varane back in the starting XI for this fixture.

Liverpool vs Manchester United recent form

Liverpool, fresh off an inspiring 3-2 victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final, have been playing at their usual standards. They did draw against Benfica and City, but won each of their five games before that.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have evidently struggled for results. Although they are coming on the back of a 3-2 win over Norwich City, they lost 0-1 to Everton, drew 1-1 against Leicester and lost 0-1 to Atletico Madrid before that.

While the history of these two English giants dates back to April 1894, this will only be their 60th meeting in the Premier League. Of the last 59 matches, Manchester United have won 28 while Liverpool have come out on top on 17 occasions.

Interestingly enough, United have not defeated Liverpool in the Premier League since March 2018 when they won 2-1.

Since then, the Red Devils have lost four and drawn three of their last seven league meetings against Jurgen Klopp’s men. This includes a 0-5 drubbing earlier in the season when Mohamed Salah scored a brilliant hat-trick

Liverpool vs Manchester United prediction and tips for Premier League 2021-22

Manchester United haven’t defeated Liverpool in each of their last five trips to Anfield (D3, L2). During these matches, the team has scored a solitary goal while conceding five.

Furthermore, if Liverpool manage to defeat Man United on Wednesday, this will be the first time since the 2013/14 season that they will complete a league double over their eternal rivals. And judging by the form they are in, it’s no surprise that the odds are completely in their favour.
