Know Super League Kerala 2024 start date, teams, format and where to watch in India

The inaugural Super League Kerala (SLK), an upcoming men's franchise football league, will start in September in the state of Kerala.

Organised jointly by the Kerala Football Association and Scoreline Sports Private Limited, the Super League Kerala 2024 will see as many as six football franchises compete for the title across 45 days.

Ahead of the upcoming Super League Kerala, all the six franchise owners of the league were formally announced and their team names and catchment areas were also revealed at a grand function on Friday, May 10.

The six Super League Kerala 2024 teams will be representing the city of Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Malappuram and Kannur.

Calicut FC, Kannur Squad FC, Kochi Pipers FC, Malappuram FC, Thiruvananthapuram Kombans FC and Thrissur Roar FC are the six franchises that will feature in the inaugural edition of the Super League Kerala. Here are some of the co-owners of the teams in the league.

Calicut FC: V.K. Mathews, tech entrepreneur and Chairman, IBS Group

Kannur Squad FC: M.P. Hassan Kunhi, Director of Kannur International Airport Ltd; Mibu Jose Nettikadan, Managing Director of Castle Group, Doha; Praveesh Kuzhuppilly, Director of Asset Homes and Shameem Backer, promoter of Wayanad FC

Kochi Pipers FC: Mahesh Bhupathi (CEO, SGSE of APL Apollo)

Super League Kerala 2024 format

The Super League Kerala 2024 will be staged in two phases - league stage and knockouts.

The league stage matches will be held in a home-and-away format. The top four teams will advance to the knockout stage. The knockouts will comprise semi-finals and the final.

As per the regulations, each team will feature four foreign players and other talented and young players from both Kerala and other states.

As many as 100 players are expected to participate in the inaugural Super League Kerala.

The league aims to provide a platform for the local players to showcase their talents and play and learn alongside some of the overseas players.

Super League Kerala 2024 venues

Super League Kerala 2024 matches will be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi, Kozhikode’s EMS Corporation Stadium and Sports Council Stadium in Manjeri.
