Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid will start their title defence against newly-promoted side Almeria on August 14 in the La Liga 2022-23 season.

Thanks to the remodelling work that is being carried out at Santiago Bernabeu, each of Madrid’s first three La Liga games will be played away from home. After playing Almeria, they visit Celta de Vigo, followed by a trip to RCDE Stadium to face Espanyol.

Real Madrid’s first home match of the La Liga 2022-23 season will be played against Real Betis on September 4.

Meanwhile, the first Madrid Derby of the new La Liga season is scheduled for September 18. Ancelotti’s men are slated to visit the iconic Wanda Metropolitano.

Furthermore, October is going to be an extremely busy month for defending champions as they play six matches; four home, two away. They begin the month with a home game against Osasuna followed by Getafe away from home.

On October 16, Real Madrid take on Barcelona in the first El Clasico of La Liga 2022-23. For the rest of the month, they have Elche, Sevilla and Girona to play.

All domestic leagues will go on a six-week-long break to accommodate the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Hence, Los Blancos will play only one match in December; against Real Valladolid away from home.

The team will kick off the new year with back-to-back matches against Villarreal, Valencia, Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad. The month of February will have the second Madrid Derby followed by the return leg of El Clasico on March 19.

The action-packed month of May will see Real Madrid playing five league matches before concluding their season against Athletic Bilbao on June 4 at Santiago Bernabeu.
