Indian Super League (ISL) champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant will host Maldives’ Maziya Sports and Recreation Club in their second Group D match of AFC Cup 2023-24 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Monday, October 2.

Under head coach Juan Ferrando, Mohun Bagan started their AFC Cup 2023-24 campaign in an emphatic fashion as they thrashed Odisha FC 4-0 in their opening group fixture at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

Dimitri Petratos’ brace and a goal each from Sahal Abdul Samad and Liston Colaco helped the Mariners register a dominant victory away from home.

With the win, Juan Ferrando’s men are currently placed at the top of the AFC Cup 2023-24 Group D standings.

Earlier, Mohun Bagan beat Machhindra F.C. 3-1 in the second preliminary round and later overcame Bangladesh’s Dhaka Abahani by the same scoreline in the South Zone Playoff to secure their place in the main draw.

On the other hand, Maziya head into the clash after defeating Bangladesh’s Bashundhara Kings 3-1 in their AFC Cup 2023-24 campaign opener.

For Maziya, Vojislav Balabanovic, Hassan Nazeem and Ali Fasir netted a goal each in their comprehensive win in their AFC Cup 2023-24 Group D opener and they are currently placed second in the Group D standings with three points.

Mohun Bagan vs Maziya head-to-head

Mohun Bagan and Maziya have faced each other on six occasions in the AFC Cup with the former winning thrice and the latter winning twice. The other match ended in a draw.

The last time these sides met, Mohun Bagan (earlier ATK Mohun Bagan) secured a 5-2 win over Maziya in the AFC Cup last season.
