Mohun Bagan started their Kalinga Super Cup 2024 campaign with a 2-1 win over Sreenidi Deccan and later followed it up by beating Hyderabad FC with the same scoreline in their second Group A encounter.
With six points from two games, the Mariners are currently placed second in the Group A standings behind local rivals East Bengal.
On the other hand, East Bengal have also won both their group games in the ongoing Super Cup.
Under head coach Carles Cuadrat, the Red and Gold Brigade defeated Hyderabad FC 3-2 in their opening game.
East Bengal later overcame Sreenidi Deccan 2-1 in their second group clash to continue their impressive campaign.
Having scored more goals than Mohun Bagan, East Bengal are currently placed at the top of the Group A standings with six points from two matches.
Going by current scenario, Mohun Bagan will need to beat East Bengal to qualify for the Kalinga Super Cup 2024 semi-finals.
For East Bengal, a draw will be enough to seal their spot in the last four of the Super Cup.
As per the format, each group winner will qualify for the semi-finals. The Kalinga Super 2024 final is scheduled to be played on January 28, 2024.
