Defending EFL Cup champions Manchester United will host last season’s finalists Newcastle United in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup 2023-24 at Old Trafford in Greater Manchester, England. Under manager Erik ten Hag, Manchester United rode on goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford to beat Newcastle 2-0 in the EFL Cup 2022-23 final at the Wembley Stadium to clinch their sixth title in the tournament’s history.
Earlier, United began their title defence with a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace courtesy goals from Alejandro Garnacho, Casemiro and Anthony Martial in their third round clash.

Having registered five wins and as many losses, United are currently placed eighth in the Premier League 2023-24 standings with 15 points from 10 games.
On the other hand, Newcastle United pipped Manchester City 1-0 to knock them out of the EFL Cup 2023-24 in the previous round.
Star forward Alexander Isak scored the match-winning goal in the 53rd minute to guide Newcastle to a memorable win.
Led by manager Eddie Howe, the Magpies will head into the United game after being held to a 2-2 draw by Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday.
Ahead of the EFL fourth round fixture, United have several injury concerns. The Red Devils will miss the services of Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Amad Diallo.
The hosts could receive a massive boost with the return of Casemiro and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from the treatment table.
Newcastle will also be without a few of their star players including Harvey Barnes, Elliot Anderson, Jacob Murphy, Lewis Miley, Alexander Isak and Sven Botman.
The visitors have also succumbed to a huge blow as midfielder Sandro Tonali has been banned for 10 months for betting breaches.
