The La Liga 2023-24 football season will start on Friday, August 11, with Almeria hosting Rayo Vallecano at the Estadio Mediterráneo.

As many as 20 teams will play a total of 380 matches over nine months in Spain’s top division football league.

FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid will be the top contenders for the 2023-24 La Liga title.

Defending champions Barcelona will begin their title defence with an away fixture against Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez in the early hours of Monday, August 14 in India.

Under manager Xavier Hernández, Barcelona pipped arch-rivals Real Madrid by 10 points to clinch their 27th title in the top-tier league of Spanish football.

Having reinforced their squad with the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Inigo Martinez and Oriol Romeu, Barcelona will aim to defend their title.

After a mixed campaign last season, Real Madrid will begin their La Liga 2023-24 season against Athletic Club at the San Mamés Barria in Bilbao in the wee hours of Sunday, August 13 in India.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid will look to dethrone Barcelona and have made several additions to their star-studded squad. Jude Bellingham, Fran Garcia, Arda Guller and Joselu have been signed to bolster Madrid’s squad.

Los Blancos are the most successful team in La Liga with 35 titles. 

Another contender Atlético de Madrid will kick off their La Liga 2023-24 season with a home fixture against Granada at the Metropolitano Stadium in the early hours of Tuesday, August 15.

Granada, Las Palmas and Alavés are the three newly-promoted teams for the upcoming La Liga season.

The 93rd edition of La Liga will conclude on May 26, 2024.
